Welcome Rain
The rain has livened things up at the Middle School. As I looked at these beautiful blooms in front of the Middle School the other day, I realized that this was the first time I had really noticed them. Could it be that without students I finally had time to stop and smell the blooms? Don't know, but they sure look pretty.

Summer Principal
Being Principal in the Summer--lots of phone calls, lots of planning, lots of interviews, lots of cleaning, and then being told to go home a couple hours early on a 3 day weekend for all the hard work at the end of the school year. Nice.

Dodgeball
I heard a great line today while playing dodgeball with my seventh and eighth graders in PE when I crossed the boundary line (I love being principal): "Mr. Rutherford, just because you run this school doesn't mean you can cross that line while playing dodgeball." Thanks Ashley, you made my day!

Guest Speaker
Milton Creagh, a motivational speaker with a powerful anti-drug and anti-alcohol message, spoke to over 300 Mountainburg students today. He kept us captivated for over an hour and a half with moving stories and a moving message. Thanks, Big Milt, for coming today. And thank you, Elks International, for sponsoring him.

Physical Science
Ms. Cater's class is working on a science debate. Here they are researching their assigned topic, choosing a side to be debated, and creating a PowerPoint presentation. In a few class periods, they will debate with another group in class about their topic.
Benchmark Bootcamp
I was able to join in on some of the training this Friday at the 6th grade Benchmark Bootcamp. This was our opening exercise wherein listening skills played a key part. Besides that, it was fun and helped our students have a positive attitude toward the upcoming Benchmark exams.

The Cry of Crows
Here is part of the cast and crew of "The Cry of Crows." This is the first play that Mountainburg has performed in some 15 years. They did a fantastic job. We are very proud of them. Thank you, Ms. Bembenek!
GT Project
This is part of a 6th grade GT project. One neat thing about being principal at MMS is that I get invited to all the fun stuff.

Our Place
This is where I am to stand as I receive the check. Many schools from across the state are here to receive the grants. We are the only school from Crawford County.
At the Capitol
I'm at the Capitol Building this morning to receive a grant check for the Middle School PE program. The award will be in excess of $15,000. We are excited for the many new opportunities this will bring to our students.

HS art students are currently making sculptures out of plaster. Here a student is just beginning to chip away at her block.
Airplanes in Math Class
In order to gain a set of data points for a math assignment, students in Mr. Hamilton's math class threw two kinds of airplanes and recorded the distances. Not to brag, but my plane went the farthest.
